A 16-year-old girl in 2007 lost eight of her fingers on her hands in a tragic accident when they were burned off after becoming set in Plaster of Paris during a school art lesson. The teenager was making a sculpture when her hands became stuck in the plaster when it set, reaching temperatures up to 60 degrees centigrade.
